Gaia Visnar joins the cast

Gaia is originally from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Being from an acting family, she was on the stage before birth (inside the tummy of the Lion in The wizard of Oz :)) and grew up surrounded by theatre. She trained at the Actors Studio Slovenia, Ljubljana Dance Theatre, JSKD, and other international institutions. She has attended international exchanges and festivals, taking different voice, acting and movement classes. She performed in dramatic and children shows as well as musicals at various theatres throughout the country, including Sentjakobsko Theatre(God, The Little Cockatoo and Play it again, Sam), KUD France Preseren (Snow Angel), Glej Theatre (Birds and Old Songs) and SiTi Theatre (The Real Princess).

In search for new opportunities and expanding horizons, she first came to NYC in 2010, taking acting classes at The Acting Studio (Meisner Technique, Scene Study), HB Studio (Scene Study, Voice, Improv) and The Barrow Group (On-Camera, Scene Study). Embarking on an international journey, she started training in Theatre in Education as well, cooperating with artists from United Kingdom, Mexico, China, Thailand, Africa, Greece and other European countries, which became an important part of her artistic development. Her training included Mime at Estudio Busqueda de Pantomima Teatro in Mexico and Improv at the Gorillas Improv School in Berlin.

She earned her BA in Psychology at the University of Ljubljana, graduating with an international research, comparing Slovenian and USA Actors in personal, social and cultural traits. Her thesis included a wide comparative research of different acting styles and methods. She continued her education at the Circle in the Square Theatre School professional conservatory, where she graduated with honors in 2017.

What about now?

In the summer of 2017, she was a part of the successful run of Adam and Evie at the Living Room Theatre in Vermont. She filmed a short film Domine in Slovenia. Since the fall, she has been involved with multiple New York theatre and film productions. She cooperated with Sponsored by Nobody Theatre Company and with the directing class of Anne Bogart at Columbia University. She was a part of a one act play Revealing that made it into the selection of the New York New Works Theatre Festival and is about to be turned into a film. She is producing a short film Basis of Intimacy, and stars in another short, Lurid, in post production. She is The Actors Studio Intern and Artistic Associate of The Seeing Place Theater, where she will appear as Ismene in the upcoming production of Antigone. She is also a member of the Eastern Bridge Theatre Troupe and developing a New York premiere of Zala Duric's new play The Doorman. She joins the cast today to portray SAGA, editor of magazine in YURAQ.
